Indiana Energy Assistance Program (EAP)

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) can help you pay your heat and electric bills! EAP provides a one-time annual benefit that can assist you with the high cost of home energy and can help if you are disconnected or are about to get disconnected . An EAP benefit will not cover all your annual heating and electric costs, so you should continue to pay your bills regularly. These benefits are paid directly to the utility vendor to help cover your heating and electric costs. If your utilities are included in rent, you may still qualify for EAP.

Energy Assistance Program PY2025

The Energy Assistance Program application opens Oct 1, 2024 and closes April 14, 2025 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time. Applicants can apply online via the online portal, by mail, in-person, or by calling 2-1-1. To apply in-person or request a paper application form, applicants must contact their Local Service Provider (LSP).

                                                                     PUBLIC NOTICE – ANNUAL AGENCY PLAN
 

Elkhart Housing Authority has developed documents for the Five-Year and Annual Agency Plan for the Fiscal Years April 1, 2025 through April 1, 2029 and Five-Year Capital Fund Program budgets in compliance with current HUD regulations.  The Plan will be available for public review at the Housing Authority’s office located at 1396 Benham Ave., Elkhart beginning November 4, 2024. The Authority’s hours of operation are 8:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday.  A public hearing on the Agency Plan will be held on December 19, 2024, at 3:30 PM in the Housing Authority’s office.
